Fees for a 50-minute session are on a £65 - £80 sliding scale, dependent on income and circumstance.
A limited number of lower-cost sessions are available for those on lower incomes. Please enquire about availability.
Payments can be made by bank transfer at the time of the session.

Booking

If you are interested in art psychotherapy and would like to make an appointment, please email me at emma@artpsychotherapy.net telling me a little about yourself and reasons for seeking therapy. We can then arrange a brief phone conversation, and schedule an appointment time.

First Appointment

In a first appointment, you will have the opportunity to talk more about yourself and your wishes and aims for art psychotherapy. I will also ask some questions about your general health and background. I will also ask for your next of kin and GP contact details.

There is no commitment to booking further sessions. The purpose is for us to assess whether we can work together. If so, we can arrange a day and time for ongoing sessions and agree the therapy contract.

Ongoing Therapy Sessions

Appointments can be scheduled once or twice weekly, at the same time(s) and place each week. Sessions last for 50 minutes. We can book an initial block of sessions or engage in open-ended work. We can build in regular reviews to check you are getting what you want from the sessions. During a session you will have the chance to explore through both art making and talking.

Cancellations

Ongoing therapy occurs on an agreed day and time each week. This space is reserved for you. To make this possible, payment is due for all sessions, including those you cancel.

Holiday Exemptions: I don’t usually work on bank holidays, and take four additional weeks holidays per year. You are not expected to pay for this period. I am also happy for clients to take four sessions off per year, without paying. If you do need to miss a session, please inform me and try and give as much notice as possible.

Working Online Using Zoom

When working online, before each session I will email you a link to access our Zoom meeting room.
If you haven’t used Zoom before, please download and register beforehand.
Please consider carefully where to have the session, somewhere uninterrupted and private, with a good internet connection.

Ending Therapy

You are free to end therapy at any time. It is advisable to plan an ending to the therapy at least a few weeks in advance.

Contact between sessions

Like most psychotherapists, I cannot guarantee to be available if you need to speak to me urgently between sessions. If you need a reply before our next scheduled session, please state this clearly in your message. Please note that outside of my normal working hours I might not check my emails or phone.

Emergency Support

If you are in need of urgent mental health support please go immediately to your local hospital’s A&E department, dial 999, or contact your GP.
